Hello family!
I have taught and spoken more English this week than my entire mission. Wooh, we've been trying to find some ways to use Facebook, and our English abilities to find. A little different than my usual Paul and Peter testifying in the streets, but its been pretty effective. Lots and lots of chapel tours. Woot woot, and when you have a massive chapel like we do here in Barç its pretty impressive.
We had a intercambio this week, in the great area of Terrassa. Some good ol'contacting and a bit nippy up there, reminds me of Burgos. Haha
I had so much fun with Elder Eyre, he's from South Jordan. We knocked on someones door, just because it sounded like they were playing Dance dance revolution, when he opened, he most definitely was not dancing. An old old Spanish man, mustache and everything, in just a bathrobe. Hes got some good taste in music! Haha
On the way to Terrassa I got off at the wrong stop, and was completely lost. I didn't have a way of calling my companion and I was... alone.... waaaaah. It was alright, I just used a phone of a nearby man. He spoke enough Spanish and his phone worked. But the Lord once again used my Spanish speaking ability, for when I asked a women what was the name of the stop she didn't speak a lick of Spanish, and was completely lost. I was able to translate and help her find her way. All of this occurred in the space of 5 minutes. Woot woot miracles. When I told her who I was, she was impressed, she stated that she was Muslim, but I really do believe that God used me and my incompetence to get off the train to help her, and answer her prayers.
I had a lesson as well, with a family I had only just met, and it really was a great moment. I've been praying and trying to develop charity and I guess even just having a love for this family was an answer to my prayers.
So fun fact there is no z sound in the Spanish phonetic alphabet. Nor v. Trying to teach someone how to make that sound, may possibly be the most difficult, and hilarious thing ever.
Just one more thing, Elder Hamson and I were talking about a wonderful thing called conversion. Its been a difficulty and challenge to help our friends and fellow missionaries figure out the Idea of conversion. Doing things, because we truly love the Lord. Not because we will have success, nor because it will be fun, but because we love the Lord.
That is something that almost all the world does not understand. They don't have a relationship with God, and when its not fun, when its outside the comfort zone, our little "discipleship spree" comes to a Pharisaical stop. I think that's what missionaries are missing, what members are missing, and it truly is the most precious part. Doing the hard because we love Him.
So I invite you. I invite you, to find something you don't want to do, or something you don't think you can do, and do it. Do it for the Lord.
1 John 4: 19 We love him, because he first loved us.
Thank you for listening/reading my spiritual rants. I hope you are all enjoying the Come Follow Me as much as I am. Ahhhhh its incredible!
Love you!
Elder Gardner
