My dear family and friends:)
I had the chance to witness a baptism! Wahoo, twas amazing. No it was not for Burgos, but in Lagrono, as I was on exchange there. That would have to been the highlight of my week. It was truly beautiful and a wonderful reminder of the goal that we have for the people in Burgos. I got to sing in an impromptu musical number for the service which I know I enjoyed much more than the members of Lagrono... haha:)
I am drawing near to the end of whats felt like a very very short Training. I don't feel qualified. I am nervous to see what lies in my missionary future. Will my trainer leave, and I stay. Will we continue together, or will Burgos B be closed and we both hit the road? Ha,ha tune in next time...
Well, I do have to say we have and had some very neat plans for Thanksgiving as a zone. The whole Vitoria zone gathered together for a pot-luck thanksgiving dinner American style, and of course some very un competitive turkey bowl, with the smallest rugby ball you can find in Europe:) I've never seen my companion so happy. He was in his element. The Zone is great, and full with missionaries with great attitudes. Fun to feel the energy of so many servants of the Lord.
So in all honesty, these last few weeks have been some of the more difficult for me. I am constantly jumping into new and uncharted territory for Elder Gardner. My people skills, with Spanish, and hundreds to meet everyday, have been stretched to the very limits. Sometimes I feel like I am attempting to learn how to play a very complicated song on public display. All my mistakes and errors after awhile can add up and even though I try to laugh at myself, I can get very frustrated, and unfortunately there is no place to hide until you can regain your cool and focus.
The mission is all about coming unto Christ. We invite people to come unto Christ everyday, all day. We study His teachings, and strive to emulate His character all we do and teach. In Ether 12:27 a long with His promise for strength and empowering ability, Christ states that 2 steps must take place. "I will show unto them their weakness;" Well I have seen a lot a lot a lot of weakness these last few weeks. So all that's left to do for me is to humble myself, trust in His enabling power, and stutter through another lesson in a Spanish that should have been better by now. I now that I can't do this mission without His help. So I will trust him, and wait for the day when He will make "weak things become strong." I love you all, I know this is the plan of a life time, and eternity. Continual progression as we come unto the Lord. I love you, until next week!
