Well, first of all apologies.
(Mother, I am sorry that I didn't mention that we were going to have preparation day till today. We are both not dead, nor are we kidnapped:)
Second, this week housed some of the most drastic changes in the mission. We received SMARTPHONES. Most of the Mormon world probably knew before we did, but this was news to us. We received them during our recent zone conference, and it was like Christmas. We all received a little package with our area name on it with a powerful missionary tool within. I am excited to see how the work will progress with this new technology. In many many ways though, I am convinced it will remain the same. I will say this though, I walked out of that conference so pumped to comment, like, and "Whats app" people through the doctrine of Christ. What a blessed time to be a part of this work. I love it.
We had quite the adventure as well this week, in our attempts to make it to our "Ward Barbecue." We headed to where the barbecue was supposed to be located at, and found out after a small hike with all the food that was required for such barbecue that we had been led astray and we had hiked 8km in the wrong direction. We were on the other side of Burgos, now almost an hour late, and I had spilled Horchata seeping its way down my back. We were so blessed to receive a ride from a member, also late, the rest of the way. Just one of those moments that will be hard to forget. Sitting on the top of a massive hill, on a dirt road, losing cellular coverage, with mashed potatoes, cookies, and horchata in tow. What a great day to be a missionary:)

I've come to the realization that, while yes some of the growing will occur naturally as I spend more time attempting to teach people about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I myself need to be proactive about the development of my character. Goals, plans, and follow up are required. As President Uctdorf said, "No one else is responsible for your personal journey. The Savior will help you and prepare the way before you, but the commitment to follow Him and keep His commandments must come from you. That is your sole burden, your sole privilege.
This is your great adventure.
Please heed the call of your Savior.
Follow Him."
I am determined to make and set my own goals, and follow through with them. I know this is the plan for eternity, eternal progress, and I wish to begin my journey. I love you. Please don't wait to become the person you want to be. Start now. Start today. I love you.
